Charter Rode is now Verified Sailor. Same app, same account, same resume. Why the change?
The Trusted Sailing Resume

Prove your time on the water.

Verified Sailor turns your logbook into a sailing resume that charter companies, insurers, and the Coast Guard can check for themselves. Every entry shows who verified it, and once it's on the record nobody can tamper with it. Made a mistake? Just fix it. Only the final version of an entry counts.

How it works

Log it. Get it verified. Share it.

Get started in less than 10 minutes. The Quick Start Guide walks you through it.

1

Log your experience

Create a logbook entry in under 60 seconds: vessel, role, hours, nautical miles, conditions. Sail, power, or commercial. Add your certifications and licenses too.

2

Get it verified

Ask a crewmate who was aboard to confirm the trip with one tap, or have us confirm your charter directly with the charter company.

3

Share your resume

Your resume updates itself in a standard format that's easy to read. Send anyone a simple link. They can see exactly what was verified, and by whom.

Sound familiar?

You know you can handle the boat. Can you prove it?

A shoebox of logbooks and a spreadsheet only you can vouch for leave the person across the desk guessing. When people have to guess about your experience, they guess low.

  • A charter base wants a checkout sail, or offers a smaller boat, because your resume is only your word?
  • An insurer sizing you up by the boats you've owned instead of the miles you've sailed?
  • Rebuilding your sea time from memory every time a charter company or the Coast Guard hands you a form?
  • Passed over for crew berths by skippers who have no way to check your experience?
  • One failed hard drive away from losing your entire logbook forever?

Why it's trusted

A logbook says where you've been. Verification is why people believe it.

Every entry on your resume shows how it was verified, so the person reading it can weigh it for themselves.

Tested where it counts

Sailors have used their Trusted Sailing Resume to charter boats in the US, Greece, Thailand, and throughout the Caribbean, from the Virgin Islands to St. Martin and St. Vincent. We also sat down with marine insurance underwriters. Today the best most of them can do is guess at your experience from the boats you've owned. They still have their own forms, but your resume hands them what they've never had: the actual days, miles, vessels, and conditions, organized and verified. What started as one sailor's logbook is now a community of verified sailors that keeps growing.

Tamper-proof by design

You shouldn't have to care how it works. You should only care that an underwriter in another country can trust an entry you logged ten years ago.

So every verified entry is digitally signed by you and by whoever verified it, then written to a permanent public record that nobody can edit. That includes us. If you make a mistake, fix the entry; only the final version counts on your resume. What nobody can do is quietly change a verified record after the fact. Your identity stays private until you choose to share your resume.

For the technically curious, that record is a purpose-built blockchain. Read the white paper, browse the block explorer, or see how it works in the FAQs.

What's all this sailing resume stuff?

Underwriters are paying more attention to where you've sailed, not only the boats you say you've owned. Here's what a good sailing resume contains, who asks for one, and how to keep yours current without the paperwork.
